How AlphaESS system works

On-grid:
Normally
Before installation: You can only benefit from the PV system during limited day time. All excess energy will be fed into the grid and there is no solar coverage during the night. If there is no one at home at day time, the feed-in tariff will be your major benefits (typically not much).
After installation: Instead of going into the grid directly, excess solar energy goes to AlphaESS and be stored firstly. And then AlphaESS system releases energy to cover your electricity need at night. Exceeded energy will still be fed into the grid once Alpha storage reaches its capacity, so what you get here is a higher self-sufficient rate + a less grid consumption + feed-in tariff benefit.
Blackout (UPS function):
When the grid fails, AlphaESS system will kick in immediately and support your critical appliances through specific circuits. This process will be automatically completed in 20 milliseconds and your energy need will be covered by the AlphaESS system. This is what we call Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) function.
With AlphaESS, your solar panels will funtion as normal (but will not feed in the grid) during the blackout.
Off-grid:
It doesn’t matter if you are going completely off grid in the daily lives or just facing a blackout lasting for days, the AlphaESS system can work with your solar panels to support your energy needs.
To increase the energy efficiency, when it comes to support the load, PV energy takes priority. The excess energy will be stored in Alpha batteries to be used at night.
